Ahhhhh Phuket you wiley soul

I leave this sexy little hotspot of beach and muay thai joy. Tomorow. I feel the need to venture out a bit, see some sights, climb some rocks and live out of a backpack for a bit. I havn't really been "backpacking" so far. I've had a cupboard for the past month. I havn't used it but the point remains, I owe it to my backpack to use it.

A bit.

Then i'm coming right back here this place is AWESOME.

So i'm going to Krabi, some say (lonley planet) that it's got the best beaches in Thailand, and its a hot rock climbing hot spot. Which is the best thing to break up my trips to a Muay thai camp with, in my opinion. Other's may argue otherwise but i'm sticking to my guns.

The only reason i'm online right now though is as I don't want to go and pack up all of my shit. It's a little bit spread out all over my room. Ahhhh my room, almost got flooded today. There was water nearly at the front door. I say nearly though because everything stayed dry and all was well.

I would keep writing as I actually had planned something but there are two other people in this room full of computers and they are both annoying the hell out of me. There's a guy on the phone spelling out something to the guy on the other end who I imagine must be deaf by the current volume. Hello door. Goodbye internets.

Big Buddahs and new hats

Lets just get this out of the way first. I was in Patong which I would describe as the seedy MK of Phuket. It's got a few clubs which are mostly shit, like MK, and loads of people on the street to get all up in your grill, like MK. The difference is the people who are getting in your face are guys....who are now girls. But all that is irrelavent, Patong is nightlife central for those who are at Tiger Muay Thai, there's no training on Sunday so its all about Saturday night. I went out, but little did I know the joy that would soon find me.

At the side of the road, some rastafarian Thai guy hybrid called out to me.

"I made it meself" He said.

200 Baht, a new hat. Check this hat.

Look at this hat, look how damn good this hat is. More importantley, look how happy I am to be in this hat, have you ever seen a man this happy. Incase it wasn't clear I love this hat, my only gripe is that I cannot wear it in Thailand, for the degrees push the 38 mark and wearing hat would stupid and pointless. Stupidley pointless.

In other news i've been training Muay Thai for about 3 weeks and I can report it is awesome. I've also been doing MMA which basically means i've been rolling around with other guys in the least gay way possible.

I would be doing other stuff if I wasn't training anywhere between 3 and 7 hours a day. In this heat, I eat, I train and thats pretty much it for the day. There's a few sights in Phuket which i'm ticking off. There's a sexy temple, a big buddha and about 5 different beaches. I've been to....3, so i've got a week to go to 2 beaches. Tough life.

Damn big Buddha

There's quite a high turnover rate at the Muay Thai Camp, there's also a big mix of people. A lot have come over here specifcally for training and anywhere between a complete beginner or a profesional MMA fighter. There's a big of people who are travelling, Thailand, Asia, or the world next to people who are simply on a long holiday.

Talking to all these people about where they've been, I've figured that for me, in terms of travelling i'd sit somewhere in the middle. The idea of travelling from spot to spot doesn't appeal as much as staying in one place for ahwhile and really getting under its skin. I'd like to think that its because I really want to absorb the culture and learn new skills etc, stuff that you'd need to be here for a good few months to do (for example i'd rather be really good at Muay Thai while the training is so good here, than do a week of it and hop off to Cambodia) it's probably just because i'm pretty lazy though and would rather chill than plan some bus rides.

EITHER WAY, it's still all awesome, i'm really good at elbowing stuff now and how many people can say that? Fewer than you'd think.

MORE POWER!
